Attorney General applauds state Supreme Court ruling on access to public records

Unanimous high court opinion reflects reasoning of AG brief

OLYMPIA — Today in Nissen v. Pierce County, the Washington Supreme Court unanimously held that records on a public employee’s private cell phone can be “public records” and thus subject to disclosure.  The Court's decision largely agrees with an amicus, or "friend of the court," brief filed by the Attorney General's Office.

Court adopts AG’s argument as key component of minimum wage ruling

Consequential argument first advanced by Attorney General Ferguson

SEATTLE —The Supreme Court of Washington today held that the City of SeaTac’s $15-an-hour minimum wage applies to workers at SeaTac airport, relying in part on arguments made by the office of Attorney General Bob Ferguson.  The state was not a party to the lawsuit but made the arguments in an amicus — or “friend of the court” — brief filed in the case. 

AG joins $71 million agreement to stop off-label medication marketing

SEATTLE — Attorney General Bob Ferguson today joined 47 other state attorneys general and the District of Columbia in a $71 million agreement resolving allegations that Amgen, Inc. unlawfully promoted two medications for uses and doses not approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration.

Amgen produces Aranesp and Enbrel. Aranesp is used to treat certain types of anemia by stimulating bone marrow to produce red blood cells. Enbrel is used to treat a number of conditions, including plaque psoriasis. 

AG Ferguson responds to city council resolutions on Arlene's Flowers

Attorney General Bob Ferguson today issued a letter to Kennewick City Councilmember John Trumbo and Pasco City Councilmember Bob Hoffmann, in response to resolutions each has proposed.

The nearly identical resolutions – based on a draft provided by the Family Policy Institute of Washington conservative interest group – call on Ferguson to drop his office’s legal action against Arlene’s Flowers.
