Attorney General Bob Ferguson today issued a letter to Kennewick City Councilmember John Trumbo and Pasco City Councilmember Bob Hoffmann, in response to resolutions each has proposed.
The nearly identical resolutions – based on a draft provided by the Family Policy Institute of Washington conservative interest group – call on Ferguson to drop his office’s legal action against Arlene’s Flowers.
The Attorney General’s Office has prevailed in a case brought against the Richland florist for violating Washington’s Consumer Protection Act by refusing to serve a same-sex couple seeking to buy wedding flowers in 2013. The Alliance Defending Freedom, another conservative interest group, has appealed that ruling on behalf of Arlene’s proprietor Barronelle Stutzman.
