PORT ANGELES — A Clallam County jury has decided that repeat sex offender Brian Taylor-Rose is a dangerous predator and must be confined in the state’s Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island.

In the interest of public safety, prosecutors from Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s Sexually Violent Predator Unit have been fighting since December 2012 to prevent Taylor-Rose’s release into the community.

PORTLAND, Ore. — In a closely watched case with significant repercussions, including for women’s reproductive rights, the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals today agreed with the Attorney General’s Office’s that pharmacies must follow state rules to give patients timely access to medications.

SEATTLE — Attorney General Bob Ferguson today called on five major phone companies to offer call-blocking technology to their customers.

In a joint letter sent with 44 other attorneys general to the chief executives of the carriers, Ferguson said a new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rule clarification confirms that telecommunications service providers can offer customers the ability to block unwanted calls.

Offender will remain confined pending commitment proceedings

COLVILLE — The Washington Attorney General’s Office has filed a petition in Stevens County Superior Court seeking to civilly commit a sex offender and prevent his release into the community.

Joseph Griffith, 34, will remain confined pending civil commitment proceedings. He was convicted in Snohomish County in 2000 of two counts of second-degree rape of a child, a sexually violent offense, and was sentenced to 14 years, two months in prison.  He was released from confinement in 2012.
