McKenna’s “Operation: Allied Against Meth” task force issues final recommendations

OLYMPIA - Members of Attorney General Rob McKenna’s “Operation Allied Against Meth” task force signed the committee’s final report today at the third and last meeting of the group in Olympia.

The task force, comprised of representatives from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, treatment programs, business, real estate, non-profit organizations, government and the Legislature, agreed to support all the recommendations set forth by the group’s individual subcommittees, with the exception of provisions that could affect constitutional rights to privacy.

OLYMPIA—Attorney General Rob McKenna is joining forces with Nickelodeon and The Century Council to help parents and their children start the conversation about the dangers of underage drinking.

McKenna will present the program, “Ask, Listen, Learn: Kids And Alcohol Don’t Mix,” at two middle schools in the Puget Sound Area on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The program is also offered in Spanish, ”Pregunte. Eschuche. Aprenda. ¡Los Niños Y El Alcohol No Mezclan!”

MEDIA ADVISORY: McKenna to visit Spokane Friday, Dec. 2

Attorney General Rob McKenna will visit Spokane Friday, Dec. 2, to present a $15,000 grant to Providence Cancer Center and to promote a public service program to discourage under-aged drinking.

  • Presentation of Taxol Settlement Award to Providence Cancer Center.

WHAT: McKenna will present Providence Cancer Center with a check for $15,054 to benefit cancer patients. The grant is a portion of a multi-state settlement with drug maker Bristol-Myers Squibb, which developed and marketed the late-stage cancer drug Taxol.

MEDIA ADVISORY: McKenna in Spokane for Anti-Meth Presentation

OLYMPIA—Attorney General Rob McKenna and Lead On America will bring the “Operation: Allied Against Meth” tour to Spokane on Thursday. It is McKenna’s first high school anti-meth presentation of the 2005-06 school year.

The tour is just one part of the Attorney General’s overall “Operation: Allied Against Meth” strategy, focusing on education, outreach, increased prosecution and policy efforts to fight the spread of this deadly drug in Washington state.

OLYMPIA—Attorney General Rob McKenna‘s “Operation: Allied Against Meth” task force will hold its second meeting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Senate Rules Room at the state Capitol.

McKenna will open the meeting with an update on the efforts of the Attorney General’s Office in addressing the state’s methamphetamine crisis over the last six weeks then the task force’s individual work groups will share the outcome of their subcommittee meetings and recommendations in the following areas:

OLYMPIA –Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced updates to his series of Open Government Forums, including:

  • Rescheduling the Tacoma forum to Oct. 10 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.; and
  • Adding a forum in the Tri-Cities on Sept. 22 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

McKenna’s Open Government Forums, co-sponsored by major daily newspapers in 13 cities across Washington, are designed to accomplish three goals:
