McKenna Announces $1.7 Million Agreement with PayPal to Protect Consumers


PayPal to clearly disclose customer rights and obligations

SEATTLE – Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced that Washington and 27 other states reached an agreement with PayPal, Inc. resolving concerns about the company’s business practices.

“Today’s settlement ensures that PayPal spells out important terms and conditions before a consumer becomes a PayPal member and each time a customer initiates a transaction,” McKenna said.

Public Counsel’s Work in Pacific Power Case Helps Block Rate Hike for Yakima and Walla Walla

SEATTLE – Yakima and Walla Walla residents will not feel the burden of a proposed rate hike by Pacific Power. The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) this week denied the company’s request for a nearly 18 percent rate increase, agreeing with arguments made by the Washington State Attorney General’s Public Counsel Section and other opposing parties.

McKenna announced a new multi-agency partnership this week that uses Internet safety education as a tool to protect youth from online predators, pornography, and cyberbullies.

AG presents “Operation: Allied Against Meth” bill to legislative committee

OLYMPIA – Attorney General Rob McKenna today presented legislation recommended by his “Operation: Allied Against Meth” task force to the Senate Human Services and Corrections Committee in Olympia.

Senate Bill 6239 includes additional funding to help local governments fight the meth epidemic, tools for effective meth lab cleanup and more effective treatment, public education and criminal penalties.
