Attorney General’s Office settles with another ad firm accused of deceptive auto marketing

SEATTLE – Washington auto dealers, beware. The Attorney General’s Office today announced its third settlement in recent months involving car advertisements and says it is seeing an increase in out-of-state firms marketing new and used cars for local dealerships who don’t understand state laws.

Eminent domain bills to be heard tomorrow

OLYMPIA—The House Judiciary Committee will hear two government accountability bills tomorrow aimed at protecting landowners from losing their property to condemnation.

The measures, requested by Attorney General Rob McKenna and prime-sponsored by Rep. Lynn Kessler, D-Hoquiam, will help property owners by narrowing the ability of government to condemn property due to blight and by informing them of their rights in such situations.

Assistant Attorney General wins award for community contributions

OLYMPIA…Attorney General Rob McKenna is proud to announce the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) has presented Cheryl Handy with the Local Hero Award during a luncheon today in Tumwater.

WSBA awards the Local Hero Award to attorneys who have made outstanding contributions to their communities. Handy was recognized for her ongoing work in providing no-cost legal services to low-income individuals.

Attorney General McKenna announces nationwide agreement with MySpace to protect kids online

OLYMPIA – Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced that MySpace has agreed to take significant steps to better protect children on its Web site. McKenna joined attorneys general nationwide in signing an agreement with MySpace that creates an industry-wide task force to develop technology to verify the age and identity of users.
