The Department of Revenue is touting its Web site, www.suspectfraud.com, as part of a campaign to help prevent consumer fraud and give people an easy way to check if a business is registered and paying taxes.
Links on www.suspectfraud.com allow consumers to check whether businesses are registered and licensed with the state and to report them if they are not. Consumers also can check to see if a registered business owes the state taxes, has had complaints filed against it, or is the subject of state enforcement actions.
The site includes links to report insurance scams, consumer complaints, investment schemes, moving company violations, unregistered contractors and other types of fraud.
