Scammers claiming to be from your credit card provider

Scammers are working the phones yet again, this time identifying themselves as representatives of Quimper Community Federal Credit Union in Port Townsend. According to a woman who called our office, the cons claim that an account has been compromised and encourage the customer to stay on the line to talk to a security person.

The Seattle P-I also interviewed me in regard to a similar phone scam where a con already knows your credit card number and wants you to provide the three-digit security code on the back. Don’t do it. When in doubt, hang up and call your credit card company directly using the phone number on your card or statement.
