Many Web sites advertise free ring tones. But are they really free?
Eighty percent of Web sites selling mobile phone ring tones and desktop wallpapers are tricking people with hidden fees or false advertising, the European Union’s consumer affairs commissioner said Thursday.
Ring tones — usually aimed at teenagers — make up almost a third of mobile content in Europe, racking up 691 million Euros ($1.1 billion) in sales last year, the Associated Press reported.
