Yesterday's Dilbert cartoon sums up complaints we frequently hear about rebates.
As we've mentioned before on All Consuming, many rebates go unclaimed because consumers throw away proof of purchase codes or miss deadlines.
I'm not a morning person, but I woke early on Black Friday a few years ago to buy a scanner at a killer price of $29.99 after rebate. I hung on to my receipt, UPC code and all the necessary paperwork. But I stupidly assumed that the deadline would be sometime after Christmas. Not so much. That scanner ended up costing me at least a hundred more and wasn't such a great deal.
Do you still buy products with rebates or have you given up?
