Computer germs disguised as holiday greetings

Bah Humbug! Or, more specifically, Bah Computer Bug! The FBI reportedly issued a warning about e-mailed holiday cards that contain malware. Such mean-spirited greetings are nothing new; we’ve mentioned them on All Consuming several times.

Sadly, I’ve reached a point where I’m skeptical about any e-mail that directs me toward a link or suggests I should open an attachment. If I receive a supposed e-card from a stranger, I just click delete. If it looks like a greeting from a friend or relative, I’ll delay opening it until I’ve successfully contacted the sender to inquire if the message is legit. Not as much fun. But better than having to replace my computer.
