The Better Business Bureau issued a warning today that property owners have received letters from National Deed Service, Inc. The letter explains that the U.S. Government Federal Citizen Information Center recommends you have a certified copy of your propery deed. You can pay $59.50 to buy one from the company. But it’s cheaper to order a certified copy from your local county auditor's office. But if you already have the original deed, you don’t need a certified copy. And if you sell the property, you won't need the deed to sign it over to the buyer; you'll have a new deed prepared for that purpose.
