Car tab renewal scam

Watch out for a new scam targeting Washington car owners. Cons posing as Department of Licensing representatives are contacting folks and telling them their vehicle tabs are expired.  They then ask for credit card information to renew the tabs over the phone. The real DOL doesn’t process tab renewals over the phone.

Car owners say they receive either a recorded message or they begin to receive a recorded message but a person claiming to be a DOL representative comes on the line during the message.  Read more.
