Office of the Attorney General

Attorney General

Bob Ferguson

Yesterday, Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced charges against a Snohomish County caregiver for claiming pay for care while her client was in jail.

Our office has charged Chastidy M. McMahon with second-degree theft and Medicaid false statement in Thurston County Superior Court.

McMahon claimed that she was providing Medicaid personal homecare and transportation services to a man with development disabilities who was actually incarcerated in the Snohomish County Jail during that time.

“Medicaid fraud takes already scarce healthcare funds away from the people in our state who need them most,” Ferguson said. “If you’re a healthcare provider who isn’t playing by the rules, my office will hold you accountable.”
