OLYMPIA — Attorney General Bob Ferguson today announced that CHI Franciscan will provide more than $1.1 million in healthcare cost relief after an investigation into mislabeled charges and inadequate fee disclosures.
OLYMPIA — Finding that, “given the preventative measures available and now mandated by the agreement of the parties, there is little to no chance of an imminent and substantial endangerment,” U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington Judge Thomas Rice today declined to require safety measures by court order in advance of trial. The federal government implemented those safety measures only after Attorney General Ferguson Bob Ferguson filed a motion for preliminary injunction with the court in July.
OLYMPIA — A federal judge rejected the U.S. Department of Energy’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit by Attorney General Bob Ferguson over longstanding worker safety issues at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation.
OLYMPIA — In a historic decision, a Thurston County Superior Court judge today ordered the Grocery Manufacturers Association to pay $18 million in penalties and punitive damages, after Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s lawsuit revealed GMA intentionally violated Washington campaign finance laws. The case arose from Ferguson’s investigation of the finances of opposition to voter Initiative 522, which would have required labeling of genetically modified organisms, or GMOs, in food sold to consumers.

SEATTLE — Attorney General Bob Ferguson today filed a consumer protection lawsuit against a former Whatcom County loan officer, accusing her of offering home loan modification and bankruptcy services, neither of which she is qualified for under state law, then charging hefty and illegal up-front fees, while providing little or no help.
Nearly half a million Washingtonians had their personal information compromised as a result of data breaches between July of 2015 and July of this year, according to a report issued today by Attorney General Bob Ferguson. The release coincides with National Cyber Security Awareness Month.
OLYMPIA — The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) announced that it filed a complaint in Thurston County Superior Court today alleging campaign finance violations by the Freedom Foundation. Specifically, the AGO alleges that the Freedom Foundation failed to properly and timely file independent expenditure reports disclosing money it spent to oppose statewide ballot measures.
The Attorney General’s Office has filed a petition in Pierce County Superior Court seeking to civilly commit a Pierce County sex offender to prevent his release into the community.
KELSO — A Cowlitz County jury today denied the release of a sexually violent predator after a prosecutor from the Attorney General’s Sexually Violent Predator Unit proved that he remains mentally ill and sexually dangerous.
