The worst financial crisis since the Great Depression did not sneak up on us: the collapse of the housing market. The crumbling of financial institutions. The massive expansion of consumer debt. Some of us saw telling symptoms of these illnesses in our economy.
OLYMPIA – As state legislators prepare to head home, Attorney General Rob McKenna was gratified that many of his consumer protection, community safety, and open government priorities had been approved by the Legislature. Some have already been signed into law and others await the Governor’s signature.

OLYMPIA -- The State of Washington will honor all law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty and recognize officers who have given service beyond the call of duty at a special ceremony on the Capitol Campus, May 8.
Governor Christine Gregoire and Attorney General Rob McKenna will award six law enforcement officers this year’s Medal of Honor, the state’s highest law enforcement award. The honor is bestowed upon officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice or have displayed exceptionally meritorious conduct.

SEATTLE – Today, the Public Counsel Section of the Washington State Attorney General’s Office joined a multi-party settlement agreement in the proposed merger of CenturyTel and Embarq. The settlement recommends that the state Utilities and Transportation Commission approve the merger subject to a set of conditions to protect consumers served by the phone companies.
