Attorney General’s Office seeks US Supreme Court review in culverts case

Washington committed to protecting salmon, seeking to resolve challenges with lower court ruling

OLYMPIA — The Attorney General’s Office today filed a petition asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review a decision by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in the “culverts case,” officially referred to as United States of America et al. v. State of Washington. Today was the deadline for filing the petition for Supreme Court review.

AGO files campaign finance complaint against Pierce County Democrats

OLYMPIA —The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) today announced that it filed a complaint in Thurston County Superior Court alleging campaign finance violations by the Pierce County Democratic Central Committee. Specifically, the AGO asserts the committee failed to timely report a total of $63,643 in contributions, $90,357.95 in expenditures, and $34,791 in debts over a three-year period.

AG prosecutors seek to prevent release of Clark County sex offender into community

VANCOUVER — The Washington Attorney General’s Office filed a petition today in Clark County Superior Court seeking to civilly commit a sex offender and prevent his release to the community.

Charles Alfred Boling, 70, was convicted of two counts of first-degree child molestation in 1992 and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Boling was released in 2014 on community custody in Vancouver but twice violated the conditions of his release and was returned to confinement to finish out his sentence.

AGO files campaign finance complaint against Washington & North Idaho District Council of Laborers PAC

OLYMPIA —The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) filed a complaint in Thurston County Superior Court yesterday alleging campaign finance violations by the Washington & North Idaho Laborers Political Action Committee (the PAC). Specifically, the AGO asserts the committee failed to timely report a total of $350,855 in contributions and $226,600 in expenditures.

OLYMPIA — Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed a “friend of the court” brief arguing that agricultural workers who are paid on a “piece-rate” basis by what they pick are also entitled to compensation for time they spend on other aspects of their jobs.

Court rejects motion to dismiss 2 defendants in Eyman campaign finance case

OLYMPIA — A court today rejected a motion by two defendants in a $2.1 million campaign finance case involving Tim Eyman and for-profit signature gathering firm Citizen Solutions, asking the court to dismiss the case against them.

After hearing arguments from both sides, Thurston County Superior Court Judge James Dixon issued an oral ruling rejecting a motion to dismiss Citizen Solutions and its principal, William Agazarm.
