YAKIMA — The Attorney General’s Office announced today that trial has begun in Yakima County Superior Court in the case of State of Washington vs. David Ramirez, a sexually violent predator civil commitment proceeding.
Port Orchard — A Kitsap County jury has decided that repeat sex offender George Edward Hancock, Jr. is a dangerous predator and must be confined in the State’s Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island. SEATTLE — Although Washington has adopted some of the most comprehensive anti-trafficking legislation in the country, more research, training and outreach are needed in order to combat child sex trafficking, according to a new report.
KELSO — A fourth superior court judge today agreed with an opinion issued by the Attorney General’s Office earlier this year, concluding that nothing in Initiative 502 overrides local governments’ authority to regulate or ban marijuana businesses. This allows I-502 to continue to be implemented. Every court to consider this issue has now agreed with the Attorney General’s opinion.
