SEATTLE — Attorney General Bob Ferguson offers the following statement:
SEATTLE — A federal judge today reversed and permanently blocked the Trump Administration’s unlawful decision to “reprogram” funding for more nearly $89 million in congressionally approved military construction funding meant for Naval Base Kitsap to help build a wall along the U.S. southern border with Mexico.
OLYMPIA — A Thurston County Superior Court judge ruled today that Tim Eyman has committed more than 100 violations of multiple Washington state campaign finance laws by concealing $766,447 in political contributions. Eyman faces significant potential penalties which will be determined in July.
The Washington State House of Representatives today passed Attorney General Bob Ferguson and Gov. Jay Inslee’s joint legislation protecting domestic workers. It passed by a bipartisan, 59-39 vote. It now moves to the Senate for consideration.
Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s agency-request legislation to ban solitary confinement as a punitive practice for juveniles passed the Washington State House of Representatives today, in a strong bipartisan vote of 76-20.
A Pend Oreille County Superior Court judge found probable cause to civilly commit a sex offender today after the Washington Attorney General’s Office filed a petition to prevent his release to the community.
SEATTLE — Attorney General Bob Ferguson has filed a lawsuit against Bellevue-based Reed Hein & Associates LLC, alleging numerous unfair or deceptive business practices related to services to “exit” consumers’ timeshares. Reed Hein does business under the name Timeshare Exit Team.
Attorneys for the federal government are attempting to block a federal judge from considering a friend of the court brief written by more than a dozen retired Washington state judges and two former state Supreme Court justices. The judges’ brief supports Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s unlawful practice of seizing immigrants in and near Washington courthouses, even when those individuals are at the courthouse to serve as witnesses or to conduct ordinary business like renewing their car tabs.
Today, the Washington state Senate passed Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s proposal to repeal Washington’s death penalty in a bipartisan 28-18 vote. This is the third time in as many years that the Senate has passed Ferguson’s bill, which will formally end the practice after the Washington State Supreme Court found the state’s method of applying the death penalty unconstitutional.
