FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

OLYMPIA— A care giver in Lincoln County pled guilty Tuesday to three counts of First Degree Theft and five counts of Health Care False Claim (as Medicaid False Statement).

Terry L. Garvin’s crimes occurred between April 2004 and October 31, 2006.  She has agreed to $99,433.09 in restitution for having wrongfully obtained Medicaid funds intended to compensate her for care she claimed to have provided her mother.

Garvin, a Lincoln County resident who also worked full time in the Lincoln County Hospital, submitted claims for providing up to 310 hours of care per month to her mother, when unbeknownst to her mother’s case manager, her mother was living in Benton County.

The daughter has alleged to have provided no care for her mother.

Garvin is scheduled to be sentenced in Lincoln County on December 18, 2007. The standard sentencing range on each count of First Degree Theft is 22 to 29 months in prison.
