Washington State

Office of the Attorney General

Attorney General

Bob Ferguson

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

OLYMPIA—Attorney
General Bob Ferguson today announced the hiring of Alison Dempsey-Hall as
Deputy Communications Director.

“Alison brings a passion for law and the
protection it provides Washingtonians,” said Ferguson. “This makes her a
natural fit for the work we do here at the Attorney General’s office. I am
excited for her to apply her broad skill set including public relations,
communications and public policy analysis for the benefit of Washington
residents.”

Most recently, Dempsey-Hall fulfilled a hybrid
role of communications specialist and public policy analyst for the Washington
State Senate. In that capacity, she counseled senators on complex policy
initiatives and carried out executive-level internal and external communication
efforts. Through this hands-on work, she developed an expert understanding of
the legislative and legal process.

“The Attorney General’s Office makes a difference
for the people of Washington every day,” Dempsey-Hall said. “I look forward to
helping Attorney General Ferguson fulfill his mission to protect people from
fraud and scams, to support veterans and to protect the environment.”

Dempsey-Hall will lead communication efforts on
issues including consumer protection, criminal justice, and antitrust.

Through her role as communications specialist for
the Washington State Senate, she served as the lead for landmark laws and court
decisions including the law to combat child escort ads on Backpage.com, the K-12
McCleary Supreme Court decision and the rollout of the Affordable Care Act. As
a public policy analyst, she researched and helped draft and enact public
policy.

As a marketing and membership manager at the
Greater Bothell Chamber of Commerce, Dempsey-Hall led community engagement and
outreach efforts. She also collaborated with diverse stakeholder groups
including local government, higher education and the community to ensure
mutually beneficial results such as the Downtown Bothell Revitalization Project.

Dempsey-Hall spent two years as a business
English teacher in Prague, Czech Republic and Venice, Italy.

Dempsey-Hall earned a Master’s in Public
Administration from Seattle University, with a focus on public policy. She
received her undergraduate degree in International Business with minor in
Management from Washington State University.
