“Because of the heartbreaking impact of this global criminal enterprise, and the fact that human trafficking is happening in our backyard, our office is proud to be a part of the effort to raise awareness about this important issue,” McKenna said. “The producers of the film ‘Holly’ should be commended for using the powerful medium of film to bring this issue to the forefront.”
Filmed on location in Cambodia, "Holly" is the story of a 12-year-old Vietnamese girl's journey through the horrifying world of modern-day slavery. "Holly," a full feature narrative, is one of three films produced by Priority Films that expose human trafficking and prostitution (the other two are documentaries). These projects spearhead the RedLight Children Campaign, aimed at reducing the number of children sold into servitude and prostitution each year.
According to U.S. government data, human trafficking is tied with arms dealing as the second largest criminal industry in the world today, preceded only by drug dealing. Of those crimes, human trafficking is the fastest growing.
“Most people are unaware of the presence of human trafficking in the state of Washington,” Moran said. “Due to our international borders and ports, the demand for farm and household workers, the prevalence of international trade, and other factors, this state is more impacted by human trafficking than many others. I am eager to give an update about what we are doing--and what remains to be done--to combat this growing problem.”

Actress/Producer Adi Ezroni, State Senator Jeanne Kohl-Wells, and LexisNexis Senior Vice President Michele Vivona will also appear on the panel.
