Other LanguagesSEATTLE, WA – Washington State Attorney General-elect Bob Ferguson announced the names of his transition committee today. Comprised of a statewide coalition of civic and legal community leaders, transition committee members will lend expertise from law enforcement, civil litigation practice, and both the public and private sectors to advise Ferguson as he prepares to take office.
Ferguson tapped former Washington State Supreme Court Justice Bobbe Bridge and King County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Satterberg as the co-chairs of the committee.
“My goal is to create the best independent, non-partisan public law office in the United States,” said Ferguson. “The experience, wisdom, and advice of this diverse and talented group will be invaluable as I take office and begin this work.”
Ferguson will be sworn in as Attorney General on January 16, 2013.
The committee will be tasked with reviewing the structure of the Attorney General’s Office, its budget, and goals for the upcoming legislative session. Key priorities for the committee’s consideration include strategies for addressing gang violence, strengthening the consumer protection division, developing an Environmental Crimes Unit, and establishing a Veterans Division to address the specific legal issues faced by veterans and military families.
“My transition committee will consider how we can best to protect Washington consumers, improve public safety, defend our environment, and stand up for our veterans,” said Ferguson, “We will build upon the strong foundation laid by past state Attorneys General and the outstanding work being done by the lawyers and staff in the office.”
