FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

OLYMPIA—Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced that AGO Antitrust Division Chief Tina Kondo and Senior Counsel Christina Beusch have been promoted to his core leadership team effective February 17. Kondo and Beusch will fill vacancies left by deputies Linda Dunn and Jeff Goltz.

“Tina and Christina have demonstrated leadership and respect within our office and across the state and nation,” McKenna said. “I’m grateful that they’ve agreed to bring their wealth of expertise and wisdom to our core leadership team.”

Kondo started her career with the Attorney General’s Office as a law clerk with the Antitrust and Consumer Protection Divisions in 1979.  Upon graduating from the University of Puget Sound Law School in 1981, she was hired as an AAG in the Labor and Industries Division, moved to the Consumer Protection Division in 1982, then found her home in the Antitrust Division in 1986.  She was appointed Antitrust Division Chief in 2001.  Kondo has won numerous AGO awards, including the 2002 Golden Gavel Award, and has chaired three NAAG committees in her tenure.  In assuming her new role as deputy, Kondo will also continue to perform the duties and responsibilities of Antitrust Division Chief.

After graduating from the University of Maryland Law School in 1985 and working in private practice, Beusch joined the AGO in 1989 as an AAG in the Corrections Division.  She transferred to the Ecology Division in 1992 and was promoted to section chief.  In 1994, Beusch returned to Maryland and joined that state’s AGO, working as deputy counsel for the division of environment, principal counsel to the Insurance Commissioner and division chief for the insurance division.  She returned to the Washington AGO in 2002 and was appointed general counsel to the Insurance Commissioner and advice section chief for the Government Compliance and Enforcement (GCE) Division.  She has served as GCE’s appellate advisor and is a member of the AGO Academy.
