FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Laughn Doescher lured sex workers to his RV, then assaulted, filmed them

SEATTLE — In a case prosecuted by Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s office, a Seattle man faces nearly 10 years in prison after pleading guilty last month to multiple charges of indecent liberties and voyeurism.

Laughn E. Doescher was accused of luring homeless prostitutes to his RV along Aurora Avenue in North Seattle between 2011 and 2014 with food and an offer of shelter, then sexually abusing four of them while they slept. He also allegedly secretly filmed two others without their consent.

“Protecting our community from dangerous predators like this offender is one of my highest priorities,” said Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson. “My office will not allow exploitation of a vulnerable population.”

The 67-year-old Doescher pled guilty to four counts of indecent liberties and two counts of voyeurism on Aug. 8. He will appear before King County Superior Court Judge Theresa Doyle for a sentencing hearing at 1 p.m. this afternoon.

The Attorney General’s Office will recommend a 116-month prison sentence for the crimes, with an additional three years of supervised probation. Doescher will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the case at the request of the King County Prosecutor’s Office. The lead prosecutor was Assistant Attorney General Josh Choate.
