Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna issued the following statement today:
“Once again, heroic police officers bravely stepped between a dangerous criminal and his victims. And unfortunately our community is deeply shaken once again, as these brave officers were struck down in a despicable ambush. Thankfully, Sgt. Nick Hausner is reportedly recovering at Madigan Army Medical Center. We’re still deeply concerned about Deputy Kent Mundell, who remains in critical condition. My gratitude goes out to these officers, and to the law enforcement community throughout our state, who have suffered too many heartbreaking tragedies this year. May these Pierce County deputies have a full and speedy recovery. Join me in supporting those who risk their lives in defense of our safety.”
McKenna added that domestic abuse incidents are among the more dangerous cases that police regularly encounter. The accused attacker of the officers, David Crable, was a known domestic abuser.
