Other LanguagesWASHINGTON D.C.… The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG)’s newly elected president, Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker, has appointed Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna to the NAAG Executive Committee for 2006-2007. McKenna will also co-chair the NAAG Tobacco Committee.
McKenna was named as one of three presidential appointees to the Executive Committee and will serve along side the committee’s ten other members. The Executive Committee manages the association’s operations and provides approval and guidance to keep NAAG goals on track.
McKenna was also appointed to serve as the Tobacco Committee co-chair with Arizona Attorney General, Terry Goddard. The committee’s Tobacco Project facilitates the implementation and enforcement of the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement (MSA) which seeks to reduce smoking, especially among youth.
NAAG was established in 1907 to assist Attorneys General in the fulfillment of their office obligations. The association elects its officers annually through geographical rotation by region, and the president appoints standing and special committee chairs. NAAG members are the attorneys general of all 50 states, as well as US commonwealths and territories.
McKenna is serving his first term as Attorney General, taking office in January 2005.
