Office of the Attorney General

Attorney General

Bob Ferguson

Welcome to the Attorney General's Office Diversity Web site. We are proud of our efforts to promote diversity/inclusion and hope this information is helpful to you.

In a nutshell, honoring diversity means that as an agency, we strive to ensure that all employees enjoy a respectful working environment.  More specifically, our Diversity/Inclusion policy (AGO Policy 1.10) defines our responsibility to recognize, respect, and appreciate all cultures and backgrounds-- and to foster the inclusion of differences between people.

These differences include age, race, creed, color, sex, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, disability or veteran’s status and all other differences, including differences in philosophy.  Our policy sets the bar higher than “tolerance.”  It calls for the “acceptance” of such differences, by all staff, in all settings, all of the time.

With this in mind, the Attorney General's Office has:

  • Created a Diversity Advisory Committee to promote diversity and inclusion within the AGO by serving as a resource to management and others on diversity issues, providing assistance on recruitment and retention efforts and providing education, training and programs to promote awareness;
  • Planned and publicized regular diversity programs in our offices across the state; and
  • Conducted outreach to diverse communities to improve recruiting and retention.

One recent measure of the AGO's commitment to diversity can be found in its nomination for Rainbow Alliance and Inclusion Network's "Outstanding Agency Award" in 2019.
