But it’s not a cold-buster, say state attorneys general. Just in time for the sniffling season, attorneys general in 32 states plus the District of Columbia announced that they, too, have reached a settlement with the makers of the popular effervescent tablet.
SEATTLE – Attorneys general for Washington and 38 other states today announced that they reached a $12 million settlement with Mattel, Inc., and its subsidiary, Fisher-Price, Inc., resolving a 16-month investigation into the events that resulted in the voluntary nationwide recall of nearly 2 million toys for excessive lead paint in 2007.

OLYMPIA – A woman who pleaded guilty to multiple counts related to her theft of nearly $60,000 from residents of a Raymond nursing home has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars.

OLYMPIA – The Washington Attorney General’s Office says a Pinole, Calif., man’s mirror-image version of Russell Investments’ site violated the state’s anti-phishing law.
The Washington Supreme Court has denied the State's motion to vacate the stay of execution.  The court denied the motion without prejudice, indicating the State may renew the motion before the superior court in 90 days.  This means the execution will not occur on December 3, 2008.  Rather, the execution date will reset in the future once the stays are lifted.
The Washington State Clemency and Pardons Board has scheduled a special hearing at 9 a.m. on  Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 to consider the Petition for Clemency by the Washington State Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty re Darold Stenson and, due to operational necessity, the pending execution of Darold R. Stenson has been rescheduled for 8 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008, at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla.
OLYMPIA–Attorney General Rob McKenna made the following statement on the scheduled execution of Darold Stenson and two stays of execution granted today.
RICHLAND – Gov. Chris Gregoire and Attorney General Rob McKenna announced today that Washington state will file suit in U.S. District Court on Wednesday to compel the U.S. Department of Energy to complete the cleanup of 53 million gallons of highly toxic and radioactive waste buried in tanks at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation.
